KHS celebrates Mandela Day

The pupils and staff not only celebrated his 95th birthday, but also the fact that he is still alive.

During a special assembly the pupils and staff members of Krugersdorp High School not only celebrated former President Nelson Mandela’s 95th birthday, they also expressed their appreciation for the miracle that he is still alive.

The poignant ceremony, held in cold weather, perfectly illustrated the character of a multi-racial, non-discriminatory, all-embracing institution – just the type of school that Madiba envisioned in a truly democratic South Africa. Coloured balloons symbolising the Rainbow Nation were released while the National Anthem was being sung.
