Cloud of smoke hovers over retail store
Two fire trucks were dispatched after paper caught fire.
The Krugersdorp Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of a fire at the Edgars Retail Store in Ockerse Street just before 10am on 8 August.
A huge cloud of smoke was hovering over the building when the NEWS arrived.
A store manager at Edgars told the NEWS that it seems that paper caught fire but she was unable to elaborate on the exact cause.
By the time the Fire Department personnel arrived in two fire trucks most of the paper had turned to ashes and they made sure that the fire would not spread to other areas.
From what the reporter could see before a Fire Department official asked him to leave, was that there were lots of retail rubble in the area, which would have made it easy for the fire to spread.
The cause of the fire will be investigated by the Fire Department and the NEWS will give an update should new information become available.
