Mogale City Civic Centre launch prompts major road closures

Mogale City has announced temporary road closures ahead of the official launch of its redeveloped civic centre.

Residents and motorists are notified of road closures on Kruger Street, Market Street and Monument Street tomorrow, October 23, from 06:00 until 13:00 for the official launch of the Mogale City Civic Centre.

Refilwe Mahlangu, assistant to Mogale City Local Municipality’s Media and PR manager, confirmed the closures are necessary to facilitate the launch of the project, which aims to bring municipal services together under one roof.

Road users are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and use alternative routes. According to the municipality, the redeveloped civic centre is more than a building.

What the redeveloped centre offers

• Annual rental savings: Expected to save the municipality more than R3m annually in rental costs, freeing up funds for essential services
• Access to services: Bringing key municipal departments under one roof will make accessing municipal services easier
• Operating cost reduction: Equipped with water- and energy-efficient technology to reduce consumption and long-term operating costs
• Inner-city rejuvenation: The first completed development under the Krugersdorp CBD Precinct Plan, laying the foundation for further urban renewal initiatives

The municipality apologised for any inconvenience caused and appreciated the residents’ co-operation.
