Spring clean your winter garden

The West Rand District Municipality wish to apologise to the communities if the go-slow affected them in any way.

With Garden World’s Spring Festival in full swing, residents are encouraged to come and breathe a breath of spring air in the beautiful gardens on display.

The festival was openend officially by the energetic and enthusiastic Lizz Meiring on 29 July.

Guests, celebrities and the media enjoyed freshly perculated coffee, spring water and delectable eats while strolling through the gardens.

What makes this year’s festival different? Garden World offers exciting ways to celebrate the new season by planning and planting a new garden; get inspiration from the 11 new designer show gardens featuring new talent on the landscape scene, and the Rand Water display has loads of ideas on water conservation.

You can start your spring cleaning by throwing out the old and bringing in the new. Browse through the displays of garden décor and other garden goodies in the new Design Quarters.

Garden World encourages visitors to celebrate wild flowers. Visit the spectacular showcase of the best of South African flora; South Africa’s own Gold Award winning 2013 Kirstenbosch-SA Chelsea Exhibit, the re-creation at Garden World made possible with the support of the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti), Mogale City and Clover Mama Africa.

The Spring Festival runs until Sunday 1 September. Garden World is situated on Beyers Naudé Drive in Muldersdrift. Entrance to the Designer Gardens is R20 per person and children under 12 enter for free.
