Champions rise at Krugersdorp Golf Club
Krugersdorp Golf Club celebrated its rich 126-year history as members competed for top honours during the annual Club Championships recently.
Krugersdorp Golf Club recently hosted its annual Club Championships, where 156 members competed over two days for the title.
According to Calvin Caldeira, director of golf at Krugersdorp Golf Club, members competed across six divisions based on their handicaps. Scores from both rounds were combined to determine the winners in each category.

“The winner of the A Division is crowned Men’s Club Champion, while the winner of the Silver Division becomes the Ladies Club Champion,” he explained.
Calvin said it was especially exciting to see seven-year-old Blake van Tonder win the Men’s C Division, while 15-year-old Duandré Kruger claimed victory in the Men’s B Division.

The annual tournament has been hosted by the club since 1900, with more than 90 championships having taken place over the years. This year also marks the club’s 126th anniversary.
We have so much history. For any player to have their name etched onto a Club Championship trophy is a huge achievement and something that will remain for many years to come,” Caldeira said.
The winners were:
• Men’s A Division – Darin de Smidt
• Men’s B Division – Duandré Kruger
• Men’s C Division – Blake van Tonder
• Ladies Silver Division – Ilse van Zyl
• Ladies Bronze Division – Michelle Edwards
• Ladies Copper Division – Natasja Alberts
“Some great golf was played over the two days. The greens were rolling very fast, and that’s where the champions made the difference,” he concluded.
