Training centre wants to change their community
Umbuso Training Services (UTS), a computer skills training centre on the West Rand has the dream to help the community become computer literate.
“Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world.”
This is how former President Nelson Mandela described the need for an education.
Umbuso Training Services (UTS), a computer skills training centre on the West Rand not only has the dream to get the community computer literate, but to open to them the endless opportunities that computers can offer them.
This is how Anele Samantha Mkhize, the chief executive officer explained the vision of the centre during the official launch at the Christhood Chapel in Krugersdorp, which was attended by members of the community.
Some notable attendees to the event were Reverend Kenneth Meshoe, the President of the African Christian Democratic Party, Pastor Joseph Katwala Meddy and ward councillors.
Fezile Makhanya, a South African actor and television presenter was the emcee during the event.
The main purpose of the event was to inform people that they were given the opportunity to receive computer training five days a week, and after successfully completing the course they would receive a certificate that they could add to their curriculum vitae and improve their chances of becoming employed.
UTS is accredited fully by the Fibre Processing and Manufacturing (FP & M Seta) with programme approval with Mict Seta and Local Government Seta LG Seta.
Anele says the reason that she wants to offer these services for free is that she wants to give something back to her community.
“I want to help to change the poverty on the West Rand and to be able to do that I need to equip the people who take education seriously with the necessary skills.”
Reverend Meshoe told the community that they should never think that their life would not change and that things were impossible to achieve.
“Take the word impossible out of your mind and grab every opportunity you get as there are many people out there who would like to be computer literate and get such an opportunity for free.”
UTS is offering prospective students the opportunity to gain skills in many other subjects such as forestry fire fighting, municipal ward committee training, fire awareness, first aid and many other.
