School boy knocked down by passenger bus

A six-year-old schoolboy was knocked down by a passenger bus and was left with extensive critical injuries.

A six-year-old schoolboy was knocked down by a passenger bus on Tuesday 22 October and is left with extensive critical injuries.

According to ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson the boy had been awaiting medical assistance for some time as there are no clear markings on the road where the accident took place, making it difficult to find the address.

“The paramedics eventually found the scene which was on a side road near the R114 and running over the N14 highway down the road in the Elandsdrift area near Lanseria,” she says.

“They found the boy, still in his school uniform in a critical condition.

“His injuries were so severe that the Advanced Life Support paramedics initiated treatment on him and placed him on life support.

“While paramedics were stabilising the boy, the assistance of AER24 was called in and they airlifted the boy to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.”

The cause of the accident will form the subject of an investigation.
