Woman dragged under car

A woman in her 30s was killed while another woman was left with a broken leg after a light motor vehicle crashed into a crowd of people.

A female pedestrian in her 30s was killed while another woman was left with a broken leg after a light motor vehicle crashed into a crowd of people near Leratong Hospital this morning 4 November.

Vanessa Jackson, media spokesperson for ER24 says that paramedics arrived at the scene on Randfontein Road and found a crowd of people standing at the side of the road.

“The driver of the light motor vehicle is believed to have collided into another vehicle after which it crashed into the crowd.”

Jackson says the woman who suffered fatal injuries appears to have been dragged under the vehicle and suffered extensive injuries.

“Sadly there was nothing more that paramedics could do to save her life and she was declared dead on scene.”

The second patient was in a stable condition and suffered a badly broken leg as a result of the crash. She was transported to Leratong Hospital for further care.

None of the people who were in the vehicles are believed to have suffered any physical injuries.
