
Kagiso Police arrested a 44-year-old woman for allegedly stealing her father’s social grant money from an automatic teller machine (ATM).
Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya says the father, a pensioner from central Kagiso allegedly left his bedroom unlocked on 1 November at about 6.30am.
“He left his bag with his Sassa card in his bedroom and the next day at about 4pm when he used his card to withdraw cash he found that there was only R58 left in his account of the R1 250 he receives monthly.”
Allegedly his daughter was the only person who knew his personal identification number.
The complainant then approached the suspect who admitted to stealing a card and withdrawing cash.
“The matter was reported to the police and the suspect eventually was arrested.”
She was detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of theft was opened, where after she appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
