Dr Yusuf Dadoo Primary's new school hall is in the final stage of its R 1 million makeover.

Dr Yusuf Dadoo Primary School held a banquet on Saturday 9 November to thank all sponsors and role players for the funding and construction of their newly built school hall.

“The hall is now at it its final stage of construction and a formal celebration was only fit,” says school Principal Dr Ahmed Essop Ismail.

The hall, which according to the principal easily can accommodate 400 people, was almost packed to capacity as parents, community leaders and teachers came to dine together.

VIP and old friend to the school deputy minister of Home Affairs, Fatima Chohan served as the guest speaker and addressed guests on the importance of good parenting.

According to Dr Ismail the construction of the hall is one of the highlights in the school’s history together with its name change from Azaadville Primary to Dr Yusuf Dadoo Primary School to honour one of South Africa’s stalwarts in the freedom struggle against apartheid, Dr Yusuf Mohamed Dadoo.

He adds that the school would not have been able to approach the more than R1 million project had it not been for nationwide sponsorships and donations.

The hall now is being utilised by the school as well as the community for group teachings, science expos, physical education and community functions.
