Soccer tournament held

Four soccer teams from schools on the West-Rand recently participated in a soccer tournament which was organised by John Baloi from Hoërskool Jan de Klerk after a pupil came up with the idea.

He says the purpose of the day was to instil soccer to pupils and to also provide them with the opportunity to play against other schools in the area.

“This day was held to let pupils enjoy themselves and to showcase their talents.”

The four soccer teams were Hoërskool Jan de Klerk, Pro Practicum School, Princess High School and Randfontein High School.

“The winning team gets to win a trophy and gold medals,” says John.

He says he can see that the soccer boys enjoy themselves on the field and therefore want to make this an annual event.

“I plan to make this tournament bigger next year as there will be more time to arrange it.”
