Miss Mogale early elf for Ikusasa

Miss Mogale suprises boys from Ikusasa with an early Christmas gift.

Ikusasa Community Development Centre had an early Christmas thanks to Miss Mogale Tourism West Rand Jessica Farinha.

Jessica ended her reign and year-long journey with 14 once destitute boys from Ikusasa by handing over a cash donation as a Christmas gift to the centre on Monday 25 November.

One of the first steps she took to utilise her platform after being crowned in 2012 was to engage with a charity organisation that provides a range of social services including residential care for ‘street kids in Krugersdorp’. She fell in love with Ikusasa Community Development Centre and during her reign assisted the organisation in various ways.

In order to raise the money for the hand-over, the titleholder hosted a dinner and dance on 23 November.

“I was incredibly overwhelmed by the support I received from those who attended the event; the generosity enabled me to change lives,” she says.

Apart from being able to donate a cash amount, she raised enough money to buy a T-shirt, pants, socks and a pair of All Star shoes for each of the 14 boys in the centre.

“Seeing the joy on their faces when they received the clothes melted my heart,” she says.

She expressed her pleasure for being able to spread Christmas joy at the centre as a good-bye gift.
