DA calls for suspension of teacher who leaked exam questions

The DA supports pupils being given an opportunity to re-write the paper at the end of the exam period.

The DA in Gauteng wants Education MEC Barbara Creecy to suspend the teacher who is alleged to have written the scope of the exam questions on the chalk board at Mandisa Shiceka High School in Kagiso.

The teacher allegedly leaked aspects of the Grade 11 Life Sciences district exam paper by writing it on a chalk board.

“It is a serious concern that the efforts of pupils are being tampered with by a teacher and draws into question the credibility of the exams,” says DA Gauteng Education spokesperson Khume Ramulifho.

“The MEC must send a strong message that such actions are unacceptable and must take the necessary steps to prevent this from happening again.”

The DA supports pupils being given an opportunity to re-write the paper at the end of the exam period.

“The Provincial Education Department must also widen the investigation at the school to determine whether this is an isolated incident or common practice.”
