Slippery when wet: police vehicle involved in rainy weather collision
A case of reckless and negligent driving is under investigation after a police vehicle collided with a bakkie in Luipaardsvlei.
A collision between a police vehicle and a Nissan 1400 bakkie on Grey Street in Luipaardsvlei caused havoc in the afternoon traffic rush on Tuesday 3 December.
What initially was thought to be a collision after a police chase turned out to be just another rainy weather crash in Krugersdorp.
According to Krugersdorp SAPS spokesperson Tshepiso Mashale a police officer was driving in rainy weather and attempted to apply breaks while approaching a traffic light.
“The vehicle slipped on the wet road, causing the police vehicle to collide with a stationary Nissan bakkie,” she says.
“Fortunately, no one was injured.”
A case of reckless and negligent driving has been opened and is currently under investigation.
The Krugersdorp SAPS urges motorist to be extra cautious while driving in wet conditions.
