Mass aerobics marathon held to test endurance
About 400 members of the South African Police Service from 22 clusters in the Gauteng province got together for a provincial Mass Aerobics Marathon.
About 400 members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) from the Gauteng province recently took part in a four-hour Provincial Mass Aerobics Marathon.
William Mphohlele, the Krugersdorp Cluster Aerobics instructor says that 22 clusters from the province as far as Pretoria and the East Rand have participated in the aerobics marathon that was held at the Chief Mogale Hall in Kagiso on 29 January.

“We do this once a month at various venues in the province to encourage fitness and wellbeing among our members and to test their endurance.”
The first marathon of the year was hosted by the Krugersdorp Cluster.
“We have several guests who join in the aerobics, such as members from the Community Policing Forum and private instructors.”

During the aerobics marathon members from the Yonayethu Services Project, who have aerobics classes weekly in the Chief Mogale Hall, have been invited to join the SAPS.
Simangele Nhlengethwa, the provincial coordinator says that those who join in the session can rest at any time and can even take a walk.
“The members are really excited to be part of this marathon and we will see how many of them can last until the last song.”
