In a band? This could be your chance to win …
This is the 18th year Emerging Sounds is hosting this type of event, which over the years has seen countless bands using this platform to further their musical careers.
R200 000 worth of prizes are on offer for the winning band at this year’s Battle 4 Rumours 2014 competition.
Taking place every Wednesday evening from March at Rumours in Weltevreden Park, this event affords bands the opportunity of winning some awesome prizes as well as earning monies at every gig, barring the finals.
First prize is a top-of-the-range backline geared towards the style of the band, courtesy of Music Connection and a 12-track recording at Atelier Studios.
All styles of music are welcome.
Over the years this event has created a great musical platform for all bands irrespective of genre or style.
The event gets under way in March and runs every Wednesday night through to the semi-finals in October.
This year the final is taking place on Saturday 6 December.
This is the 18th year Emerging Sounds is hosting this type of event, which over the years has seen countless bands using this platform to further their musical careers. Bands that have performed in this event include Seether, Freshly Ground, The Parlotones, Prime Circle, Shortstraw, Taxi Violence, Plush, Pestroy, The Finkelsteins, 340ml, Blk Jacks, Chromium, and 1st Project.
Bands perform seven songs and will have the opportunity to earn monies. They will get constructive feedback from the judges after each performance.
The event is open to all bands irrespective of musical style because a panel of judges will judge the bands on their overall performance on the night and not on their style of music.
This event has never been about finding the freshest, latest sound – it has always judged bands on their performance on that specific day at that specific time. After all you are only as good as your last performance and Rumours believe that every time a band plays on stage, that performance must be the best one they have ever performed.
Bands are expected to go on stage and deliver the best musical performance of their life, whilst having fun and entertaining the crowd.
To book your band for this event, or for further information contact the Squire on 074 897 9326 (after 5pm Monday to Friday) or emergingsounds@mweb.co.za.
