19 injured on R114 in Nooitgedacht

Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a bakkie and taxi had collided.

Nineteen people were treated by paramedics after a taxi and a bakkie had collided at the intersection of Malibongwe Drive and the R114 in Nooitgedacht on 16 March.

ER24 and other emergency services responded to the accident where they found the badly damaged taxi on its side and the passengers lying next to the barriers.

Russel Meiring, Emergency Media and Client Liaison Coordinator says that paramedics immediately rushed in to begin their assessment, discovering that 19 patients had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

“ER24 immediately immobilised four patients, placing them on spine boards before they were transported to various hospitals in Johannesburg. The remainder of the patients were transported from the scene by various other emergency services,” says Meiring.

The cause of the collision is not known yet and investigations are under way.
