Kagiso protest: 1 stabbed, police use rubber bullets to disperse crowd

Police say rubber bullets were used to disperse unruly elements during the June 30 protest in Kagiso, while confirming one stabbing was reported.

One person was stabbed in Kagiso during the June 30 protests, while police also confirmed officers fired rubber bullets to disperse what they described as unruly criminal elements.

Acting district police commissioner Brigadier Happy Xaba said he was not aware of any injuries resulting from the use of rubber bullets and confirmed the stabbing to the Krugersdorp News.

“We had to fire rubber bullets into the crowd to stop unruly criminal elements,” he concluded.
