Leratong receives funding for life-saving equipment
Health is one of Nedbank’s strategic focus areas.
Recognising the urgent and important need to upgrade South African hospitals, Nedbank has donated R400 000 to Leratong Hospital in Kagiso for life-saving medical monitoring equipment.
The equipment will be used to observe disease, conditions and several medical parameters over time, thereby helping patients to recuperate.
The Leratong Hospital serves a population catchment area of around 1,5 million people in western Gauteng and the hospital is a key provider of medical services in the area, especially for large numbers of community members who have no access to private health care.
This is the second donation made by Nedbank to Leratong Hospital, following a R414 000 donation in 2011 towards the upgrade of the Paediatric Resuscitation Unit.
“Health is one of Nedbank’s strategic focus areas and it is a privilege for us to be able to contribute towards the provision of the best medical care for the communities we serve,” says Kone Gugushe, Divisional Executive for Corporate Social Responsibility at Nedbank.
The bank officially will launch its Nedbank Mobile Clinic in Gauteng soon, which offers free primary health screening, as well as visual and dental screening services to primary school pupils.
The clinic has seen and touched the lives of close to 2 000 children in North West in 2013 and is now operating in Gauteng.
