Lodge on a winning streak

The Valley Lodge and Spa in Magaliesburg is over the moon as they have two prestigious awards to add to their ever-growing list of achievements.

The four-star country retreat next to the Magalies River has beaten 11 other South African spas. They were announced the winners for the 2014 Up and Coming Award in the spa category at the recent Professional Six Sensational Skincare and Spalicious Recognition Awards ceremony held in Kayalami.

They also pocketed the Essential Travel 20th Accommodation Award, which comprises the Steady Star Award for establishments where management has set and maintained a high hospitality and accommodation standard over a long period of time.

Nelson Rodrigues, general manager of Valley Lodge and Spa says they are thrilled about the awards.

“Winning an award is always an honour and a privilege as it provides recognition in the industry.”

He says winning the 2014 Up and Coming Award is a great achievement as they are only in their fourth year operating as a spa.

“The spa was built at the request of the Portuguese soccer team who stayed with us during the 2010 Fifa Soccer World Cup.”

Rodrigues says the awards would not have been possible without the dedication of their employees to work hard in ensuring the lodge to be a memorable experience for its guests.

“Winning an award is always done through team effort.”
