Blood drive to aid pregnant women in need
Maropeng will host a blood drive to celebrate National Blood Donor Month.
To celebrate National Blood Donor Month, Maropeng in association with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) will host a blood drive on Friday 20 June from 10am to 3pm.
The Maropeng blood drive falls within World Blood Donor Month, which highlights the need for safe, good-quality blood and blood products.
This year’s theme is Safe Blood for Saving Mothers to raise awareness about the requirement for timely access to safe blood in preventing maternal deaths. According to Vanessa Raju, SANBS Communication Manager, the highest demand for blood daily in South Africa relates to childbirth and other gynaecologic complications, among other.
“Donating blood is a way of giving life. We invite the community and visitors to join us in support of this important cause,” says Lindsay Marshall, Marketing and Communications Manager at Maropeng, the official visitor centre of the Cradle of Humankind.
