Top achievers in Tourism awarded

Schools that managed to get superb results in the subject Tourism were included and awarded at this year's West Rand Tourism Awards event.

A new category for schools that excel in the subject of Tourism was included as a pilot project for this year’s West Rand Tourism Awards.

Khehla Mthembu, Chairperson of the Gauteng Tourism Association’s Board says this category was included to award schools that achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in Tourism in Grade 12 last year.

“It is to teach pupils from an early age that tourism is our new gold.”

The following schools in Mogale City were awarded for having a 100 per cent pass rate:

• Hoërskool Monument (category winner)

• Hoërskool Noordheuwel

• Madiba Comprehensive School (category winner)

• Kagiso Secondary School

• Magaliesburg State School

• Mandisashiceka Secondary School

• Thathulwazi WR High School

• Lodirile Secondary School

Mogale City

• Gold: Chantelle Fourie (Hoërskool Monument)

• Silver: Liesel Roberg (Hoërskool Noordheuwel)

• Bronze: Monja Vorster (Hoërskool Monument)

Mogale City Township Schools

• Gold: Thapelo Mogajane (Madiba Comprehensive School)

• Silver: Lesego Tsotetsi (Madiba Comprehensive School)

• Bronze: Gomolemo Modise (Madiba Comprehensive School)
