Help a pet during the big freeze

Ease the cold for a dog or cat this winter.

Winter is upon us, and that means the Johannesburg incorporated with Krugersdorp SPCA is gearing up for the big freeze.

“On the Highveld, the nights and early mornings are particularly cold during the long winter months. We therefore need to provide warm bedding, nourishing food and medical care for the animals under our protection,” says SPCA spokesperson Jolene Beyleveld.

“We also need to step up our sterilisation programme to ensure that the population of unwanted animals in Joburg doesn’t increase dramatically in the spring,” she explains.

“So this winter the SPCA is providing outreach services to residents in underprivileged areas, offering sterilisation, vaccination and deworming for their pets.

“We, however need some help,” says Beyleveld.

“All donations are welcome and for every R500 received, one cat or dog in an underprivileged area will be sterilised, vaccinated and dewormed,” she says.

Please donate

The SPCA receives no government or Lotto funding and depends on donations, bequests and corporate sponsorships to help Krugersdorp animals.
