Neighbour helps neighbour

For six families from Kagiso winter will be a bit warmer thanks to the Neighbour Helping Neighbour project.

A special event was held recently for six disadvantaged families from the Kagiso area. They were donated clothes and shoes to help them through the winter.

This community project was organised by Neighbour Helping Neighbour, a non-government organisation based at 2 Otlega Street.

The theme for this year’s project was Dressing the West Rand with 2014 Winter Colours. To the organisers it is their way of contributing towards uplifting South Africans.

Ivy Seolwana, one of the organisers says they served hot soup and bread, and provided oranges to boost the people’s vitamin C levels so as to stay healthy in winter.

“We arranged transport for our guests and hope that they enjoyed the time with us.”

The whole project was funded through the help of several sponsors and generous donations – no monetary donations were received for this cause.

Each of the family members received clothing and shoes according to their needs.
