Weekend accidents leave three with serious injuries
Paramedics had their hands full in Krugersdorp this past weekend.
Three people were injured in separate accidents on Krugersdorp roads over the past weekend.
According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha two people were injured seriously while a third miraculously escaped with minor injuries in a head-on collision at the intersection of Robert Broom Drive and Moorecroft Street on Saturday night 26 July.
“Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit arrived at the scene and found two people still trapped in the twisted frames of the vehicles. While rescue officers used the Jaws of Life to free the injured, paramedics worked fervently to stabilise them,” says Botha.
After the patients were extricated and deftly immobilised on trauma boards, they were transported to local hospitals for the care they required.
In a separate incident on the same night a man was left in a critical condition after his motorbike collided with a streetlight pole along Bell Street. A report from the scene indicates that the biker veered off the road and smashed into the pole, coming to rest some distance from his wrecked bike.
“Paramedics found the man with life-threatening injuries lying next to the pole. After he was stabilised at the scene paramedics airlifted him to a hospital in Johannesburg for the specialised care he required,” says Botha.
