Bomb threat just a hoax
Management at the Key West shopping centre say they don't understand why people would do something like this.
Key West shopping centre management confirmed that the bomb threat the Absa branch received this afternoon was indeed a hoax.
“I don’t know why people would do something like this,” says centre manager Carla Liebenberg. She adds that it causes chaos.

“When we receive such a call we need to follow certain procedures, such as identifying which of our tenants need to be evacuated and getting our customers out safely.”
This is the first bomb threat the centre has received this year.
“We take the matter very seriously,” says Liebenberg.

The police’s bomb squad was also on the scene. They followed the required procedures, but could not find anything related to the threat.
When the news arrived at the shopping centre various establishments in and outside the centre including Virgin Active already had evacuated their customers and clients and closed their doors. People were prevented from entering and joined employees and others who waited outside until it was safe for them to enter.

Zanele Mankeya and Smangele Sigalelane, employees of a well-known chain store say they left everything they were busy with and ran for their lives.
“I was really scared when I got the news of a possible bomb inside the centre,” says Mankeya.
Thsepiso Mashale, Krugersdorp Police spokesperson confirms that they received the complaint and says she will provide more details later.
