Pledge and experience the joy of giving

The Santa Shoebox Project has been collecting festive season gifts for children from across the country for the past eight years.

Connecting people through the joy of giving, the theme for this year’s Santa Shoebox Project is ‘Keep it Sustainable Santa’.

That is exactly what this inspiring goodwill organisation will be doing when it introduces some creative new initiatives this year.

The heartwarming Santa Shoebox Project has been collecting festive season gifts for children from vulnerable social backgrounds in orphanages, children’s homes and care centres across the country for the past eight years.

Courtesy of an innovative new partnership with Checkers a new Virtual Box option will be introduced for the first time, allowing donors who don’t live close to any of the Santa Shoebox drop-off zones to make their pledges online.

Checkers also will put together these donors’ selected Santa Shoeboxes and then send them off to the Santa Shoebox team to see that it is delivered to drop-off points.

In addition to the opportunity for members of the public to become a donor to one (or more) of the 100 000 children in need, this year kindhearted supporters also will have the option to donate Proudly South African raincoats to children who live in areas with a high winter rainfall to keep them dry on their way to school and back every day.

As a third new way to get involved in the Santa Shoebox Project this year, corporate clients and other benefactors are invited to make a financial donation towards the new legacy fund that will provide additional support to children’s facilities.

All these options can be taken easily via the new Santa Shoebox website, www.santashoebox.org. Donors may register online now, leading up to the 2014 project launch.
