Leyla aims to aid with pageant title
Teenager helps those affected by the HIV and AIDS pandemic.
Monument High pupil Leyla van Greuning believes that one is never too young to be of aid to those in need or suffering.
After being nominated as a finalist in the Miss South Africa Schools Ambassadors Competition, the teenage beauty is well on her way to do just that.
In the Ambassadors Beauty Pageant primary and high school girls in SA can represent their school.
Having gone through loads of entries from pupils representing schools from across the country Leyla made enough of an impression on a panel of strict pageant judges to be placed as a finalist.
And now the community work begins.
According to Leyla the competition aims to empower young models with the necessary knowledge and skills to become a successful ambassador for the brand and their respective educational institutions.
“Miss SA Schools inspires all finalists to get involved in their communities by developing their own project at their schools,” she explains.
Having a heart for those affected by the HIV and Aids pandemic in the country Leyla has formed a bond with Ikholwa Children’s Orphanage for children living with aids. She has involved her school in fundraising efforts for them.
Monument High School principal Johann Calitz along with principals from each finalist’s school will attend an upcoming gala event where the best fundraising effort will be rewarded.
