Alleged drug runner caught

New drug dealers are believed to be operating in the Krugersdorp North area.

Residents are urged to be careful since drug dealers are operating openly in the Krugersdorp North neighbourhood.

A couple who are members of the Sector 3 CPF was on their way back home from the monthly sector meeting on 10 November when they were approached by an arrogant alleged drug runner.

Driving down De Wet Street the couple noticed two suspicious-looking men in a silver Chevy Spark driving towards their vehicle.

The CPF members recognised the vehicle, which has been spotted in the area before.

After the suspicious vehicle had stopped in the street, the couple reversed their car to get a better view of what was happening.

A foreign national got out of the vehicle and approached the couple’s car.

“What do you need?” he asked the couple who suspected to be offered illegal substances.

The man jumped from his vehicle and introduced himself as a CPF member, requesting the foreign national to surrender.

The suspect responded saying he didn’t have anything on him and attempted to flee the scene.

The CPF member acted swiftly and grabbed him as to arrest him, while calling for backup.

After witnessing the commotion the driver of the suspicious-looking vehicle attempted to drive away, but was apprehended at the corner of De Wet and Cecil Knight Street.

Because the driver was not found in possession of any drugs, he was released the following day.

The suspected dealer however managed to get away after fleeing into Bodenstein Street. A resident noticed the suspect in his yard and let his dogs out; however the suspect jumped the wall and got away.

The members noticed a small plastic bag in the street where the couple was approached earlier.

The white powder in the bag was confirmed to be the drug known as cat.

The CPF has reason to believe that the alleged dealer or runner who was caught on Monday night, may be a new dealer operating on behalf an existing dealer in the area.
