It is believed that the 36-year-old woman from Krugersdorp, Marilyn Massyn who was reported missing was arrested after entering Japan through an airport and allegedly being found with drugs in her possession.
Massyn is being held in a Japanese prison, but no charges have been laid against her.
Japanese police and authorities are investigating the case.
The news spoke to Nelson Kgwete of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation who said there is no further information about Massyn’s situation in Japan, however he is constantly in contact with Massyn’s family.
Kgwete could only confirm her arrest and any new information will be communicated to the media as soon as it becomes available.
