Perfecting the art of coaster making
Classes held to help the elderly with their hand-eye coordination.
Elderly residents from the Golden Age Village and Memorial Flats came together to improve their hand-eye coordination.
They transformed pieces of glass and vinyl into a product that will be used as beverage coasters they can use themselves or give away as gifts.
Krugersdorp residents Tienke Bosher and Helen Aucamp, founders of Sign Theraphy use this form of art as a way for the elderly to exercise their hand-eye coordination with regular classes at the Robert Palk Centre for the Aged.
“It also provides them with endless fun and a sense of pride for having completed their coaster,” said Bosher.
She thanked all their sponsors such as Industrial Pressings, PNA Key West, Maizey Plastics, Nail Care, La Reynette Centre, RE/MAX Beyond 2000 en Webbug Websites who made it possible for them to run these classes free of charge.
Other old age homes or frail care centres interested in having these classes presented to them can contact Bosher on 072 282 7831 or via email on info@signtheraphy.co.za.
