ATM bombed but no cash stolen

Suspects escaped pennyless after bombing an ATM.

Another ATM was bombed in an attempt to steal cash.

The Absa ATM at the New Look Fruit Shop in Morare Drive was bombed in the early morning hours of 23 November.

According to a report released by Fidelity Security, information suggests that five suspects were involved in the incident.

It is alleged that the suspects placed and detonated commercial explosives on the ATM cubicle door.

Fortunately the roller shutter door was closed at the time of the incident and the suspects could not gain access to the cubicle or the ATM safe.

It is believed that all five suspects fled the scene on foot.

There were no injuries, no cash loss nor arrests reported.
