Hekpoort Police arrested a man, 24, for assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm at the Supply informal settlement.
Police spokesperson Gloria Maswanganye said the complainant was watching soccer with the suspect when the complainant commented on the two teams playing.
“The suspect allegedly did not like the comment made and hit the complainant with a glass bottle over the head and stabbed him in the upper body.”
She said police was called to the scene where after the suspect fled on foot.
“The suspect later handed himself over to the police,” said Maswanganye.
He made a brief appearance in the Magaliesburg Magistrates’ Court.
