The Tarlton police had a very successful Christmas weekend curbing crime in the area.
Lucky Matome, a police spokesperson said the police managed to close down four illegal shebeens, confiscated about 90 litres of alcohol and destroyed a dagga plantation with a total of 254 dagga plants on 26 and 27 December.
The closing of these illegal shebeens helped as there were no casualties of culpable homicide reported during this period said Matome.
“It is a victory for us as the police enjoy seeing members of our community without fear of becoming victims of crime,” said Lieutenant Cololonel Molefi, the Station Commander.
