Sentenced for shoplifting at mall

A security officer of a mall in Muldersdrift noticed a man taking jewellery that were on display.

A man has been convicted and sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment for shoplifting in October last year.

The 26-year-old Zwelibanzi Ncube was arrested after a security officer at a clothing store in the Cradlestone Mall noticed him taking jewellery from the display unit.

Police spokesperson for the Muldersdrift Police Station Hitler Ngwenya said as the man was approaching the door in order to leave, the security officer searched him and found the stolen items in his possession.

After being found guilty by a judge at the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court, Ncube was sentenced.

Station Commander at the Muldersdrift Police Station, Lieutenant Colonel David Seabi expressed appreciation towards the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Mokoeana for persevering in difficult circumstances to ensuring a conviction and good sentence.
