VIDEO: Fora’s four-legged Star needs your help

Star, a purebred Pit Bull is in need of a prosthetic leg after she broke her foot and chewed it off while her owner was on holiday.

A young purebred Pit Bull named Star is in need of a prosthetic leg after she allegedly broke her left foot and chewed it off.

This happened while her Brits-based owner from the North West province was on a 10 day holiday and left the dog in the care of his gardener.

Linda Scrace, kennel manager for Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora) said the owner’s sister then brought the dog in.

“Somewhere in-between the holiday the gardener informed him that the dog has a broken foot. When he returned from his holiday he found the dog without the foot.”

The foot after Star, a purebred Pit Bull apparently chewed it off.

Scrace said it is a problem now as the dog needs a clean amputation on the foot part and is also now a candidate for a prosthetic leg.

“She is still too young to do a higher-up amputation on the shoulder because her body is not fully developed yet.”

If a higher-up amputation will be done now, this will cause her back as well as the other shoulder blade to be thrown out of line.

“This will definitely cause some problems later in her life,” concludes Scrace.

Anyone who can assist Scrace with their funding endeavors for Star can contact her on 082 336 5568.
