New year, new crime trends?

Read all about the new crime trends Sector 3 noted in the new year.

As the new year kicked off, Community Policing Forum (CPF) patrollers noted that criminal activity in the Sector 3 area remains an ongoing battle.

Patrollers of the area have reported seeing more and more drug dealing in the area and that drug users now include older customers who have been spotted picking up drugs in their cars with their children in the back seats.

As reported before, the runners scout the area for new customers and they will stop at nothing to find them.

The number of prostitutes operating at the Pretorius Park dam in Begin Street is also on the rise, judging from the increasing number of vehicles parked next to the dam with the so-called ‘ladies of the night’ in the passenger seat.

Residents also reported seeing more and more of these street workers in Krugersdorp North.

Housebreaking and breaking-and-entering are also on the rise in the area. Burglars first identify a house and then hide on a property close by until the coast is clear.

Residents are urged to take extra precaution by ensuring doors, gates and windows are locked at night and when at work.

Jet skis and trailers also are being targeted by thieves.

Report any suspicious activities to your local sector police and work together to help eliminate crime in our neighbourhoods.
