The second dagga plantation in a week has been uncovered by the local police.
On Wednesday morning (21 January) at 8.45am Kagiso Sector Police discovered the huge plantation at a home in Tshepisong after they had been alerted by the community.
When the police arrived they could not find the owner of the property but instead found the dagga plants that have grown as tall as 1,6 metres.
Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson said the suspect was not home at the time, as he was allegedly at work.
“The police removed the plants and loaded them onto their official patrol vehicle.”
This was later taken to the Kagiso Police Station to be destroyed.
Sibiya said no one has been arrested yet as the owner allegedly is on the run. Police are investigating.
No one has been arrested following the seizure of a van full of dagga by the Railway Police on Monday 19 January, which was growing along the railway lines near the Luipaardsvlei Train Station.
