Five women made a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court yesterday (27 January) on charges of attempted murder.
Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson said three women were arrested last week and two more this week at the Kagiso Green Hostel.
“We received a complaint that a woman had visited her boyfriend at the hostel and whilst talking to him, five other women suddenly appeared and attacked her.”
Sibiya said they accused her of stealing their friends’ clothes during her previous visit to the hostel.
One of the women held her while the other four struck her to the upper and lower body.
“The complainant, who was allegedly pregnant then, said the four suspects further kicked her in the lower body and she bled and lost her unborn baby.
“The ambulance was called and the complainant was rushed to hospital after which she laid a charge against the five suspects,” he said.
The suspects have made a brief appearance but the case was postponed to a later date whilst police investigations are pending.
