Suspected stolen vehicles found

The Kagiso Police were busy with patrols when they received a call about two suspected stolen vehicles.

An elderly man from Rietvallei was arrested last Thursday night after two suspected motor vehicles were found on his property.

Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson said the patrolling police were busy conducting special operations when they received a call about two suspected stolen vehicles that were parked inside the 78-year-old’s yard.

“The police then proceeded to the given address where they found two white light delivery vehicles (LDV) vehicles parked. Upon entering the property they found the suspect who allegedly claimed ownership of a white Mazda LDV with a false registration number.”

Police investigations indicated that it was reportedly stolen in Etwatwa, a township near Benoni in Ekurhuleni, and that the original registration number was CRV 791 GP.

During police investigations, another white LDV (bakkie) with registration numbers KVW 733 GP was also found in the same yard.

The suspect allegedly claimed it was his friend’s. The engine and the tags of the vehicle had been tampered with.

Sibiya said the police immediately arrested the suspect and later detained him at the Kagiso Police Station and will make a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon facing charges of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles.
