Estate security guard assulted by residents

Residents of a upmarket estate attacked and assaulted the security guard who was just doing his job.

A security guard had to be rushed to hospital for medical treatment after responding to a complaint of loud music in a posh estate on the outskirts of Krugersdorp.

A daily newspaper reported yesterday, 23 February, that a Fidelity security guard who was deployed to patrol in the upmarket estate complex of 900 units, was viciously attacked after following up on a complaint late on Tuesday night 17 February.

It is believed the attack followed after he requested the resident to turn down the music.

Neighbours witnessed the attack and helped the security guard escape back to the guardhouse.

Peet Coertzen, estate manager, told the daily newspaper the residents followed the guard to the guardhouse where they continued their brutal assault.

The altercations of the attack by three men and two women were caught on a CCTV camera.

The security guard was rushed to hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

The officer has since opened a case of assault with the police who will investigate the matter for prosecution.

It has also been reported that the CCTV footage will be used as evidence in the upcoming court case.

The News contacted Fidelity who chose not to respond at this stage as they are conducting an independent investigation.
