A French affair for couple married on Valentine’s Day

Cupid hit the jackpot when this couple met on Valentine's Day 10 years ago.

Move over 50 Shades of Grey fans, because more romantic than this, it simply does not get.

At a Valentine’s Ball at HoĆ«rskool Die Adelaar over 10 years ago, James Deysel, the then head boy, first laid eyes on his future wife and did not foresee their romance to play out the way it did.

Both Roxanne Spangenberg and James attended the ball accompanied by other partners. But then Cupid came into play and Roxanne and James met on Valentine’s Day. Like they say, the rest was history.

James recalled saying to his date, “Look at that beautiful girl” as Roxanne entered the hall. It was love at first sight.

Needless to say his date was not happy.

After dating on and off for years, James flew Roxanne to France under false pretences in 2013.

In the city of love Paris, James took Roxanne to a romantic bridge where he asked her hand in marriage on Valentine’s Day.

The fairy tale did not stop there; this year the couple also tied the knot on Valentine’s Day at the Amazingwe Lodge.

The showstopper at the wedding was their French inspired cake, with the Eiffel Tower figurine on top and delicious macaroons.

It is safe to say that this love story is rather sweet.
