A 32-year-old suspect was arrested by the Kagiso police for allegedly robbing a woman of cash at gun point.
Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said it is alleged that the complainant was at a local pub in Zulujump in Kagiso when three unknown men arrived.
The suspects ordered and wanted the complainant to go with them, but when she refused one of the suspects drew a firearm and pointed it to her.
The complainant was then forced into a nearby house by the suspects where she was robbed of her cell phone valued at approximately R1 800.
Sibiya said the suspects thereafter dragged the complainant to the street and it is then when she managed to flee to another nearby house.
“The suspects also fled the scene on foot in different directions. The complainant later reported the matter to the police who then started searching for the three suspects.”
Through community involvement the police got a tip-off on one of the suspects’ whereabouts.
The suspect was cornered and arrested at his home and later detained at the Kagiso Police Station.
He will make a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court facing armed robbery charges.
Two more suspects are still being sought.
