Two vehicles were left stranded as the heavy rainfall of Saturday flooded the road under the railway bridge in Lewisham.

Two vehicles were left stranded under the railway bridge in Luipaarsvlei as the heavens opened up on Saturday afternoon, 28 February.

Community Policing Forum members of Sector 8 along with Netcare 911 were called to the scene to help redirect traffic and assist in removing the trapped vehicles.

The intersections of both Voortrekker and Main Reef Roads to the bridge were closed off.

West Rand emergency services, ER 24 and CPF members of Sector 8 helped to get the stranded vehicles out from the flooded road.

An off road rescue unit vehicle quickly towed out both stranded vehicles to safe ground.

No one was injured during the incident and the road was later reopened as the water subsided.

“Thanks to all the patrollers who braved the cold and rain to make our community a safer place,” says Henry Carson, Chairman of CPF Sector 8.
