Traffic is child’ s play

Traffic proved to be child’s play after Mogale City Traffic Department officials visited the 3 Varkies en 7 Dwergies Crèche.
The visit followed after an accident was reported on 6 March in front of the school and the owner decided that it would be a good idea to educate the children on road safety.
Four Traffic Department officials had fun while teaching the youngsters about road safety and rules, how to cross a pedestrian crossing, passenger safety and why it is important to always wear a seat belt.
It was all fun and giggles as the officials Gita Wehrstedt, Pulane Mangani, IA Chabalala and Rosemary Bathebeng helped the children around the circles and role played as pedestrians, until the ‘accident’ occurred.

The games continued as a teacher fell to the ground when she was hit by one of the speeding children on the carpet track. The children, who are between the ages of two and six, also learned more about stop signs and how a traffic circle works.
“Thank you to Mogale City Traffic Department who came to spend the morning with us and teach the children about safety. It was a day which they will never forget,” boasts Leonie Oberholzer, owner of the Crèche.
The children sang a thank you song as the officials departed to go catch real traffic offenders.
It would seem that the school slogan is not far from the truth as the children played their hearts out while learning.
