Power outage to be restored ‘soon’

The power outage is allegedly caused by vandalism and theft.

Large parts of Krugersdorp are currently still experiencing a power outage since the early hours of the morning. This is allegedly the doings of vandalism and cable theft at a substation.

The News‘ office was inundated with phone calls, emails and facebook messages asking what might have transpired the outage.

Nkosana Zali, municipal spokesperson said their technical team was alerted about the power outage and was dipatched to the problem at the Krugersdorp Train Station in the city’s business district.

He said since then the team have been trying to repair what was caused by the theft and vandalism.

“Electricity should be restored around 5pm or 6pm tonight if all goes according to plan.”

“Our technical team was today alerted to power outages that affected areas in the CBD and surrounds. Upon investigation,  it was found out that there was vandalism and theft of our cables in the area next to Krugersdorp Station.
