Sex, drugs and alcohol at shopping mall

Out of control underage drinking, smoking and sex taking over Krugersdorp.

A local shopping mall has become a party destination for the underage drinking and smoking teenagers of Krugersdorp.

In many cases parents drop off their teenagers at the mall believing they were going to see a movie without any idea of the mischief some of their offspring get up to around the dark corners of the mall.

The news have received complaints about some underage children drinking and smoking publicly at the mall and the dam on certain days of the week and weekends.

Allegedly sexual activities have been noted in secluded spots in the mall, with teenagers having been caught in compromising positions.

Drug abuse by the youngsters also had been reported to the news, and allegedly some teenagers smoke dagga openly at the skate park.

The news recently visited Key West Shopping Centre to cover the Jack Parow event.

Underage children were seen smoking and drinking in and around the mall, and at the skate park and dam.

The news took a photo of a girl holding a drink while she argued loudly about buying a six-pack of an alcoholic beverage.

The girl hardly noticed the news following her to take a photo.

One of her friends not so far away noticed the flash and made a comment about a photograph being taken.

The young boy who seemed to be about 13 years old, provoked the news saying: “Look aunty”, posing for a photo with a cigarette in his mouth.

“It is important for parents to know what their children are doing and where they are at all times,” said Constable Tshepiso Mashale, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police.

The news is awaiting official comment from the Key West shopping mall management.
