
Information about the whereabouts of a group of tavern burglars led police to stolen property and live ammunition.
Police have been on a manhunt for a group of suspects who broke into a tavern in Krugersdorp and stole cash and liquor in February.
The tavern owner reported the burglary to the police and said R6 000 and an undisclosed amount of liquor were stolen.
Last Friday (13 March), the tavern owner received information about the whereabouts of the suspects and handed it over to the investigating officers in the case.
He along with the police went to the address provided where they found the suspects.
“Police found an unlicensed firearm of which the serial number had been filed off, and live ammunition,” commented Constable Tshepiso Mashale, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police.
A digital camera, laptop, iPad, table and music system were recovered after being identified as property stolen from the tavern premises.
The three suspects appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on Monday 16 March.
”They are facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of suspected stolen property, housebreaking and theft, “concluded Mashale.
