Undercover police members who patrol the streets on foot witnessed a robbery and arrested the suspect on the spot.
A 15-year-old pupil was on his way home from school when he was approached by a robber in the Krugersdorp CBD.
The robber grabbed the pupil’s cellphone and made a run for it. Undercover police patrollers witnessed the incident and immediately gave chase.
They managed to apprehend the suspect on the spot after which they did a body search. They found the stolen cellphone on him and arrested him for possession of stolen property.
“School pupils are advised not to advertise their cellphones and headphones in public as they make themselves a target for criminals,” Constable Tshepiso Mashele, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police Station advises.
Furthermore she urged pupils and residents to be wary of their surroundings when in the streets as crime may strike at any time.
