An innocent bystander was shot in the hand just as a robber flee the scene of crime.
An armed suspect entered a shop in Krugersdorp on 19 March at 4.15pm and assaulted the shop assistant at gunpoint.
The suspect then proceeded to rob the shop assistant and take cash from the till.
“While the suspect was busy robbing the shop, the security guard interrupted the suspect, but the suspect took his firearm and fled the scene,” comments Constable Tshepiso Mashale, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp police.
The suspect then shot at the bystander, who was injured in the hand.
“Fortunately the K9 unit and Krugersdorp police members were close by and they immediately chased after the suspect and arrested him.”
The suspect was found in possession of two firearms.
The bystander was later taken to hospital.
The suspect was detained at the Krugersdorp police station and he will appear at Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on charges of armed robbery.
